The Maria Theresa Monument is a bronze equestrian statue located in Vienna, Austria. It is located in the Heldenplatz, a large square in the center of Vienna, and was created to honor Empress Maria Theresa, who ruled the Habsburg Empire from 1740 to 1780.

Great to see

We heard mention of the Empress Maria Theresa Monument a dozen times from our guide, but never came across it until we searched it out on our own. Nothing fabulous about the statue, but the square it sits in, between the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Naturhistorisches Museum is fabulous and the Christmas Market in the square was one of the better ones we visited.

Beautiful square

Maybe my favorite square in Vienna. Very nice garden/park, detailed monument in middle, and two identical buildings on both sides of the square. Nothing much to say, and even though everybody is taking out cellphones from their pockets to take some photos, it's better to look with eyes than the camera
