Description

The Museum of Illusions in Vienna is dedicated entirely to tricking its visitors' senses with physics-defying optical illusions and mind-bending puzzles. The museum is accessible to people of all ages and makes a great family day out with equal parts fun and learning.

Over 70 exhibition pieces present new dimensions of perception. In this interactive museum, visitors can defy gravity in an inclined room, observe other visitors growing and shrinking, lose the ground from beneath their feet in the vortex tunnel (rotating cylinder), serve the head of a visitor on a tray, or take a photo in an infinite room

HIGHLIGHTS

  • A "tour" lasts around 50 minutes through the virtual 1,300 m² world of history in Vienna’s underground
  • The bemusement (also laced with fun) comes mainly from smaller installations and posters
  • One room makes you look twice as big as your companion
  • Another has you climbing a vertical wall. In one corner table, your head appears to be served on a plate. As such, this is heaven for Instagrammers.

Not bad

Full place. Friendly staff. Warning, while it was fun and I do not regret going, it is not a long visit, very short. About about an hour.
