Description

Schönbrunn Palace is one of the most beautiful baroque complexes in Europe. Owned by the Habsburgs since 1569, the wife of Emperor Ferdinand II, Eleonore von Gonzaga, had a pleasure palace built on the site in 1642 and called the property "Schönbrunn" for the first time.

The palace and gardens built after the Turkish siege in 1696 were fundamentally redesigned under Maria Theresa after 1743. Today, the castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its historical significance, its unique complex and magnificent furnishings.

SCHÖNBRUNN CASTLE GRAND TOUR (WITH AUDIO GUIDE)

  • On the grand tour of Schönbrunn Palace, you will get an impression of what life in the imperial dynasty must have been like.
  • Wander through the lavishly designed, themed rooms - from Empress Elisabeth's bedchamber and her dressing room to Marie Antoinette's room, which served as the family dining room.
  • Be overwhelmed by the magnificent rococo decor that characterizes the castle and can also be admired in the Hall of Mirrors, where Mozart gave his first concert when he was a child! Be amazed at the sight of the precious carpets, the oversized paintings and the silk wallpaper in the unique imperial summer residence!

The impressive Schönbrunn Palace is also referred to as the Versailles of Austria and is one of the most visited sights in Vienna. So secure your online ticket in advance from the comfort of your own home and avoid long queues at the ticket office:

The palace complex includes the Schönbrunn Zoo, the oldest zoo in the world, the palm house, the maze, and the desert house.

Stunning and worth every bit of your time! One of my favourite places to visited. I would highly recommend the live tour guide, which you can learn a whole lot more, especially if you have children. You can easily spend a full day here and still have not experienced it all. The Schönbrunn Palace visits are timed, so when you purchase your tickets, you are given the opportunity to schedule a time. I would also recommend visiting the Sisi Museum first before the visiting the Schönbrunn Palace.
